Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Building Automation Service Technician to support a growing systems integration company in the greater Chicago area. You will service, troubleshoot, and optimize BAS/BMS for commercial facilities, healthcare, education, life sciences, and more.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in BAS/HVAC controls, strong troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with Tridium Niagara and BACnet/open protocols. Local travel and a valid driver’s license required.

Building Automation Service Technician

Chicago, IL Area

Summary: We're looking for an experienced Building Automation Service Technician to join a growing systems integration company serving customers throughout the greater Chicago area. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, building long-term customer relationships, and working with some of the industry's leading building automation platforms.

You'll support a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, higher education, life sciences, industrial, and mission critical facilities by servicing, troubleshooting, and optimizing sophisticated building automation systems that improve occupant comfort, energy efficiency, and overall building performance.

What You'll Do

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS).
• Perform controller programming, software modifications, graphics updates, database changes, and point-to-point verification.
• Commission new installations and support retrofit and system expansion projects.
• Respond to customer service calls, identify root causes, and provide effective long-term solutions.
• Optimize HVAC control sequences to improve system performance and energy efficiency.
• Work with building owners, facility managers, and maintenance personnel to resolve system issues and provide technical support.
• Read and interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and mechanical plans.
• Document service activities, recommend system improvements, and communicate project updates.
• Coordinate with engineering and project teams on larger automation projects.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of commercial Building Automation or HVAC Controls experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and service experience with DDC control systems.
• Hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara (N4) is highly preferred.
• Experience with one or more of the following BAS platforms is preferred: Siemens, Distech Controls, Alerton or Delta Controls
• Experience programming, commissioning, and servicing HVAC control systems.
• Knowledge of BACnet and other open communication protocols.
• Ability to troubleshoot controllers, sensors, actuators, VFDs, and networked control systems.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.Valid driver's license and the ability to travel locally throughout the Chicago area.
