Job summary

EMCOR Group, Inc. is seeking an HVAC Apprentice Technician to assist in operation, repair, replacement and preventive maintenance of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, and related equipment under supervision.

The role emphasizes safety, communication, and adherence to OSHA/NFPA 70e standards while developing hands-on skills. The position requires a self-motivated individual with basic HVAC knowledge and the ability to follow instructions.

Qualifications

• Entry level experience in maintaining and working with HVAC equipment is preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with supervision in isolated areas.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assembling, installing, servicing and repairing HVAC equipment for customers.
• Assist in retrofit installations, ductwork, refrigeration piping, and wiring.
• Assist with installation and change-outs of ductwork on commercial systems.
• Work with supervision under safety guidelines and maintain OSHA/NFPA 70e standards.

Job Summary

The HVAC Apprentice Technician is responsible for assisting in the operation, repair, replacement and preventative maintenance of commercial and industrial air conditioning and heating systems, chillers and boilers, air handlers, fan coil units, water treatment equipment, controls and other building mechanical and electrical equipment under direction from a Journeyman/ Foreman/Field Service Supervisor. The individual must be self‑motivated and work under direct supervision. Good communication skills; verbal and written are imperative. The individual must maintain safe work practices in support of the OSHA Health & Safety and NFPA 70e standards as it applies when performing the assigned duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Knowledge of how HVAC equipment
• Responsible for assisting in assembling, installing, servicing and repairing customer heating, air conditioning and other HVAC equipment
• Retrofit installations, ductwork, refrigeration piping, and wiring
• Installation and change‑outs of ductwork on commercial
• Self‑motivated and work with little supervision
• Maintain safe work practices in support of OSHA Health & Safety and NFPA 70e standards

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in the proper use and safe operation of hand tools, equipment and testing devices necessary to perform all work assignments
• Valid Vehicle Operators license
• Ability to stand, sit or squat for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift, move and carry material up to 50 lbs
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work at extended heights
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as dust mask, gloves, eye protection and hearing protection
• Working knowledge of desktop computers and Internet based programs to perform required annual training
• Ability to wear a company uniform and maintain a neat personal appearance
• This position will require a background check and drug screening

Geographic Disclosure

Compensation Range: $25 - $35 per hour. The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results. Benefits are provided through local labor union aligned with collective bargaining agreement.
