Job summary

Big Tex Trailer World is seeking a Service Technician 2 to keep the service area organized and safe while performing advanced repairs and fabrication work on trailers, truck beds, and tow vehicles. You will engage with customers to discuss repairs, quote service work, and sell parts and services.

Welding (MIG and oxy-acetylene) is required, and a valid driver's license is essential. The role includes Monday through Saturday scheduling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proven welding ability (MIG and oxy-acetylene).
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Associates Degree or Trade School Diploma preferred.
• 2-3 years of applicable work experience preferred.
• Must be available to work Monday–Saturday with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Maintain service schedule in coordination with supervisor.
• Inspect bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies for proper operation.
• Repair and replace worn parts; layout, weld, and install components as needed.
• Prepare accurate parts lists, estimates, and work procedures from manuals and diagrams.
• Quote service work and sell parts and services to customers.
• Assist customers with trailer hookup and perform safety inspections.
• Complete warranty service and required documentation.
• Maintain parts inventory and assist in PO processing and cycle counts.
• Assemble and move trailers; perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Service Technician 2 is responsible for the organization and safety of the service areas of the facility. Sells parts and performs advanced service repairs / fabrication work. Engages with customers to sell, discuss, and explain repairs, installations, and solutions. Ensures that a proper supply of regularly needed shop supplies is maintained through communication with management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on new and used trailers, truck beds, trailer tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace and repair worn and defective parts. Lay out drills, screws, rivets, and welds to repair, replace and/or install parts / accessories on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, snowplows, accessories and Installs wood or metal flooring.
• Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
• Confer in person and by phone with customers, write and read work orders. List parts needed, estimate costs, and plan work procedures, using parts lists, technical manuals, diagrams and must have the ability to quote service work.
• Sell parts and service.
• Help customers hook up a trailer. Perform visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking, etc.)
• Perform warranty service and completes required documentation.
• Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
• Maintain service parts log and submit to management as required.
• Assist in the maintenance of parts inventory for store including purchasing of parts and supplies, receiving PO's, and Cycle Counts.
• Assemble trailers.
• Park and move Trailers.
• Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

• Proven ability to weld (MIG and oxy-acetylene)
• Valid Driver's License
• Associates Degree, Trade School Diploma preferred
• 2-3 years applicable work experience preferred
• Must be available to work Monday - Saturday and overtime as needed
