Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Service Technician to maintain and repair rotary screw and reciprocating air compressors. The position requires 2+ years of mechanical troubleshooting experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Daily travel is necessary within a 3-hour radius of the assigned service area. The Technician will perform maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and assist in training apprentices.

Qualifications

• EPA certification is a preference.

$25.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full‑time hourly position.

Job Overview

The Field Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining rotary screw and reciprocating air compressors and associated compressed‑air system components, using precision measuring tools and operation manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressed‑air equipment and handle unanticipated equipment concerns.
• Collaborate with the Service Coordinator on ordering and gathering parts and supplies for installations and repairs.
• Assist and train apprentices and other Field Service Technicians.
• Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and co‑workers.
• Provide technical assistance on equipment pre‑commissioning and start‑ups, installations, and repairs of compressed‑air systems with limited guidance from the Master Technician.
• Increase customer awareness of Ingersoll Rand products, services and solutions such as Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits, and Leak Detection.

Requirements

• 2 + years of experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
• Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations.
• Must be on‑call, including 24/7 availability for 1‑week periods; first 90 days have no on‑call requirement.
• Physical ability to perform regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping and kneeling; able to lift and move weight limits per safety policy.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Core Competencies

• Read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
• Advanced network systems installations (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).
• Basic vibration troubleshooting.
• Basic air quality (system compressor/dryer – air treatment).
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and other basic computer usage; proficiency with handheld computer and network basics.
• Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost‑efficient manner.

Preferences

• Industrial air compressor maintenance & knowledge.
• EPA certification.
• Veteran/Active‑Duty Military encouraged to apply.

Travel & Work Arrangements

• Daily travel within a 3‑hour radius of assigned service area.
• Company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
