Summary

Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing role, primarily working inside hospitals. You will troubleshoot and repair medical equipment used in surgical procedures and support installation of complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic units.

Ideal candidates might have experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc.

Location

This is a remote, customer-facing position. Candidates must be based in California to support and service our customers within this territory.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
  2. Manage time effectively, prioritizing customer and business needs to complete various service tasks.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate issues, comply with regulatory requirements, and document troubleshooting processes.
  4. Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options; build relationships to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities.
  5. Support various locations within the territory based on service agreements and customer needs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Certifications or military experience may substitute.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical assessments for credentialing.
  • Customer service and team engagement experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Windows, email, mobile apps).
  • Flexibility for a schedule that may include overnights, early/late hours.

Compensation

Pay range: $70,000 - $80,000, plus potential bonuses. Rates depend on experience, education, certifications, and other factors.
