Summary

Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing role, primarily working inside hospitals. You will troubleshoot and repair medical equipment used in surgical procedures, as well as provide installation support for complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic units.

Individuals with experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.

This is a remote, customer-facing position. Candidates must be based in California to support and service our customers within the territory.

What You'll Do As An Equipment Service Tech

1. Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
2. Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs, completing PMs, service calls, warranty calls, installations, upgrades, and other duties independently.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management) to escalate issues, utilize technology platforms, and document troubleshooting processes.
4. Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities.
5. Support various locations within the assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Related certifications or military experience may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical requirements for vendor credentialing.
• Customer and team engagement skills.
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
• Basic computer skills (MS Windows, email, mobile apps, data entry).
• Flexibility to work variable hours, including overnights, early, and late shifts.

The pay range is $70,000 - $80,000, with potential bonuses. Compensation is based on experience, education, certifications, and other factors.
