Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Service Technician to perform on-site installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of air compressor equipment at Lee's Summit, MO or Aurora, CO. The role requires 2–4 years of field experience, ability to read electrical, pneumatic and mechanical drawings, and strong time management.

Primary focus is rotary screw and centrifugal compressors. Travel to customer sites, provide training and support, and submit field reports while upholding safety and quality

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years’ experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
  • 1+ year of experience with Electrical/Electronic Technology or HVAC with basic knowledge of AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams/schematics, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity, controls, refrigeration systems, and/or refrigerant certification.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including DUI in the previous 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Install on-site compressed air equipment and follow testing procedures.
  • Conduct on-site planned maintenance.
  • Provide troubleshooting and repair support for customers and field personnel.
  • Cultivate positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company personnel.
  • Travel to customer sites, often on short notice.
  • Complete and submit field service reports.
  • Provide training for customers and users on system maintenance.
  • Contribute to reports identifying and isolating unique problems.

Job Overview

On‑site installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of air compressor equipment. Requires 2–4 years of experience in the field, familiarity with electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings, and the ability to manage time to complete tasks quickly and precisely. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Primary equipment focus is rotary screw and centrifugal compressor technologies.

  • Conduct on‑site installation of compressed air equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure proper working order
  • Conduct on‑site scheduled planned maintenance
  • Provide troubleshooting and repair support for customers and other field service personnel
  • Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company personnel
  • Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel
  • Complete and submit field service reports
  • Provide training for customers and users on system maintenance
  • Provide input for various reports, including identifying and isolating unique problems
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years’ experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
  • 1+ year of experience with Electrical/Electronic Technology or HVAC with basic knowledge of AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams/schematics, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity, controls, refrigeration systems, and/or refrigerant certification.

Core Competencies
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and other basic computer usage. Working proficiency with handheld computers (e.g., smartphone, iPad) and network basics.
Preferences
  • 3+ years’ experience on compressed air systems/centrifugal technologies/solid controls background is a plus. Knowledge in the service, diagnosis, and startup of both rotary and centrifugal air compressors, including dryers, cooling towers, and filtration systems, is encouraged.
  • Military experience and/or sufficient mechanical working experience is a plus.

  • The position is onsite based in Lee's Summit, MO or Aurora, CO.
Pay Range
  • The pay range for this role is $49,000–$76,200. The pay considers a wide range of factors including a candidate’s skills, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and geographic location.
