Job summary

Pavion is hiring a Fire Alarm Technician to service, troubleshoot, and maintain fire alarm and security systems. The role primarily operates in NYC with a company vehicle provided for commuting to sites.

Applicants should have 5+ years of fire alarm experience, FDNY certificate, and expertise with Siemens systems. The position offers hourly pay of $38–$40 and benefits per the collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• 5+ years of experience with servicing fire alarm systems.
• FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire Alarm Systems Inspection, Testing and Service Technician (S-98) required or able to obtain.
• Experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and servicing Fire Alarm Systems (Siemens).
• Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and New Jersey Building Code.

Responsibilities

• Service, Troubleshoot & program burglar alarms, fire alarms, CCTV, and access control systems.
• Ensure equipment is functional and operational.
• Diagnose causes of problems and identify repairs.
• Replace system components such as panels and alarms.
• Provide technical support to customers including remote diagnosis.
• Interact professionally with customers and coordinate with manager/dispatcher.
• Inform status of service for appropriate action.
• Test and inspect fire alarm systems.
• Maintain assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment.

Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Fire Alarm Technician to join our fire business unit.

Primary Responsibilities

• Service, Troubleshoot & program burglar alarms, fire alarms, closed circuit television, & access control systems
• Ensure equipment is functional and operational
• Diagnose causes of problems or failures in systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and systems repair
• Replace system components as assigned; panels, audible/visual alarms, etc.
• Provide technical support to customers including, remote phone diagnosis, and troubleshooting of signal issues related to formats and receivers
• Interact professionally with customers
• Coordinate with Manager and dispatcher for the purpose of completing service and work orders efficiently
• Inform dispatcher and or manager the status of service to take appropriate action
• Perform test and inspect fire alarm systems
• Maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment.

Basic Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED
• 5+ years of experience with servicing fire alarm systems
• Valid Driver Licenses required and acceptable driving record
• Must be a member of IBEW Local 3 H Division or willing to join.
• Applicant requires an FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire Alarm Systems Inspection, Testing and Service Technician (S-98)
• Experience in the commissioning, troubleshooting, and servicing of Fire Alarm Systems (Siemens)
• Working knowledge of local and national Fire Alarm codes/standards
• Preventive maintenance as well as installation
• Most work will be completed in NYC, so ability to commute to that area - company vehicle will be provided to take home
• Basic knowledge of national and local alarm codes including NFPA 72, NEC, & New Jersey Building Code
• Must be able to demonstrate responsibility in being on time, regular consistent work attendance, excellent communication and completing all necessary field documentation as needed
• Must be able to demonstrate basic computer/tablet skills
• The ability to carry and climb step/extension ladders where needed and lift objects up to 50 pounds when needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturer certifications preferred (ex. Siemens, Notifier, Honeywell, Bosch)
• Experienced in basic programming of Cerberus Pyrotronics/Siemens Fire Alarm Systems
• NICET II Certification. National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologies for Fire Alarm Systems, Level II
• Basic Electronics Certification. Military, Trade School, etc.
• NICET Level II

The hourly pay for this role is: $38-$40. Benefits: Per Collective Bargaining Agreement.
