Job summary

Acme Tools in Eagan, MN is seeking a Service Technician to diagnose and repair motorized power equipment and tools. You will perform service calls, maintenance, and repairs with a focus on safety and customer communication, while supporting sales when needed.

Qualifications

• A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Willing to work indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
• Willing to cross-train in other repair areas.
• Lift up to 75 lbs.
• Stand and walk for up to 10 hours.
• Frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
• Mechanical experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing motorized power equipment and tools.
• Performing service calls on the road and communicating with customers about equipment issues and maintenance plans.
• Performing routine engine maintenance and replacing worn parts.
• Cleaning tools and work areas and maintaining clean service trucks.
• Prioritizing work schedule during busy seasons.
• Coordinating with Service Supervisor and Parts department to ensure timely parts orders.
• Recording inspections, test results, and parts used.
• Assisting as sales support if needed.
• Maintaining safe work environment and reporting safety concerns.
• Completing related tasks as assigned.

Your Role as a Service Technician

Your daily routine involves diagnosing and repairing a diverse range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and fuel problems on motorized power equipment and tools. Your responsibilities include:

• Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing various issues on motorized power equipment and tools
• Performing service calls on the road and communicating with customers about equipment issues, maintenance plans, and work performed
• Performing routine engine maintenance (lubricating parts, replacing spark plugs, testing and inspecting engines for malfunctioning parts, repairing and replacing worn/defective/broken parts, and reassembling and reinstalling components and engines following repairs)
• Cleaning up tools and work areas after each project, keeping indoor and outdoor workstations clean and clear from obstructions, and maintaining clean and working service trucks
• Prioritizing your work schedule, especially during busy seasonal times
• Clearly communicating with the Service Supervisor and Parts department to ensure parts are ordered and received in a timely manner
• Accurately record keeping, including inspections, test results, work performed, and parts used
• Assisting as sales support if needed
• Maintaining a safe and secure work environment by adhering to and striving to improve safety standards and reporting any suspicious activity
• Completing related tasks as assigned
