Your Role and Responsibilities

An ABB Quality Control System (QCS) Field Service Technician will be part of a 2-person resident team, responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of proprietary ABB hardware and software. The role also includes assisting with projects, upgrades, new installations, and advanced services. This position requires the ability to work independently or as part of a small on-site team. The work model for the role is: onsite.

You will be mainly accountable for:

1. Performing on-site ABB-prescribed preventive and corrective system maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of ABB 800xA QCS to maintain system performance to specifications.
2. Supporting installation of ABB 800xA QCS for Pulp & Paper, NP1200 Scanner, Basis Weight Measurement, HPIR-T Moisture Measurement, Optical Caliper Measurement.
3. Installing ABB MD/CD Control Package, including two ABB Slice XP Headbox Actuator arrays and one ABB SteamPlus XP(II) Profiling Steambox.
4. Supporting system interfacing with existing site processes and infrastructure.
5. Actively assisting with projects, upgrades, new installations, and advanced customer services.
6. Building strong relationships with plant operators, management, and other stakeholders through regular interaction and on-site support.
7. Providing 24-hour emergency support (as part of a rotating team schedule) and maintaining accurate maintenance documentation.

Qualifications for the Role

• 10+ years of experience in electrical/electronics, instrumentation, or process control (or equivalent military experience).
• Proven field service experience with ABB 800xA QCS.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, understanding of electrical safety, and proficiency with electrical test equipment.
• Basic knowledge of the papermaking process and DCS programming is a plus.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a customer-oriented mindset are essential.
• You hold current licenses valid in your location and necessary visas or work permits where required.
