Job summary

Cook Children’s Health Care System is seeking a Service Representative for the Admitting/Registration team. You will be the first impression of the hospital, directing patients and families, answering calls, and routing paperwork while upholding HIPAA and patient rights.

Summary:

The Service Representative will be the first impression of the Hospitals services to patients, family members and other external customers. This position is responsible for directing and escorting patients and their families to the correct service area, as well as directing visitors to the appropriate service area. This position maintains a sound knowledge of JCAHO, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, HIPAA, and departmental/System policies and procedures. Must maintain integrity and attention to detail to avoid creating duplicate medical records. This position is responsible for assisting the Patient Access Specialist with assembly and routing of paperwork. Additionally, the position is responsible for answering the telephone and directing the caller to the appropriate place. The Service Representative will be required to maintain a basic knowledge of the registration department. This position does not provide patient care but may be performed in a patient care area.

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma required.
• Typing and computer experience required.
• Strong verbal and communication skills required.
• Bi-lingual preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

• CPR certification required within 30 days of employment.

Hours:

• Monday to Friday: 7:30am to 4:00pm
