Job summary

Sunstate Equipment Co. in Kent, WA is seeking a Service Lead to assist the Branch Manager and Service Manager with shop flow and service quality for the rental and delivery fleet.

You will prioritize repairs, perform regular preventative maintenance, and ensure timely, accurate service per company guidelines. This role requires leadership in troubleshooting and training and involves engaging with shop, yard, and office teams daily.

Qualifications

• Safety policies, procedures, and guidelines must be followed.
• Mechanical knowledge of construction equipment required.
• Basic computer and typing skills expected.
• Ability to learn new information quickly.
• Attention to detail and task accuracy essential.
• Read, write, and speak English; bilingual is a plus.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 90 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
• Minimum age 21 and valid driver's license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Set daily shop priorities with crew and yard staff.
• Facilitate communication through huddles, meetings, and one-on-one interactions.
• Assist with major equipment repairs and warranty or customer-damage issues.
• Ensure availability of essential shop supplies for seamless operations.
• Serve as liaison between shop and office for equipment issues.
• Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting and repair techniques.
• Train others in repairing gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and drive trains.
• Provide welding instruction including arc and gas methods.
• Inspect, test, refuel, and tag equipment as Ready to Rent.
• Maintain decals, safety warnings, and company ID stickers.
• Keep thorough service records and manage parts orders.
• Maintain safe, clean shop and yard areas; assist with general duties as needed.
