Job summary

Palmer Trucks is seeking a Service Writer to greet customers, capture service requests, and coordinate scheduling to maximize vehicle uptime. The role includes estimating repair costs within guidelines, managing repair orders through our system, and supporting the service department with clerical duties and warranty documentation.

The successful candidate will handle communications with customers and vendors, ensure accurate labor documentation, and assist in maintaining a clean shop and office

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills and repair order processing software knowledge required.
• Varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, or extended hours based on shop needs.

Responsibilities

• Receives inbound customer calls for service scheduling and requests.
• Greets and assists drivers at the location with their unit.
• Coordinates and tracks repair orders status with Service Manager and Foremen for task assignment.
• Ensures timely action on repairs and warranty issues, and proper documentation of labor, warranty, and customer details.
• Maintains repair orders and ensures proper opening/closing.
• Keeps informed on service bulletins, recalls, and warranty information.
• Advises customers on needed maintenance and potential upsell opportunities.
