Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience using databases to document service activities.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support to customers and end users by phone or email for basic product start-up.
• Provides after-hours phone support.
• Sends Field Service Request Form to customers as needed.
• Assists field support personnel by phone or email with drawings and resources.
• Sends Return Authorization Request Form when appropriate.
• Records call and email details in the technical support database.
• Reviews field service reports for warranty validation.
• Performs product inspections and root-cause analysis for warranty decisions.
• Provides quotes for product repairs.
• Keeps benches and repairs lab organized.
• Assists parts department in identifying parts for customers.
• Provides backup to Field Service Engineer and Repair Lab Engineer.

About the Role:

WEG Electric Corp. has an excellent opportunity for a Service Engineering Specialist. In this role, you will support WEG electric motors and related industrial products by providing technical troubleshooting, startup assistance, warranty evaluation, repair support, and post-sales technical assistance to customers, distributors, and field service personnel.

This position is ideal for candidates with backgrounds in electric motors, electrical systems, industrial maintenance, electromechanical equipment, or related technical disciplines.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provides technical support to customers and end users by phone or email for basic WEG product start-up.
• Provides after-hours phone support.
• Sends Field Service Request Form to customer when requested or when scope of customer request extends beyond expected boundaries of reasonable phone or email support.
• Assists field support personnel by phone or email as needed, providing drawings and using available WEG resources.
• Sends Return Authorization Request Form to customer when requested or when deemed appropriate.
• Records call and email details in the technical support database.
• Records non-conformities of WEG products in the appropriate database.
• Reviews field service reports as needed for warranty validation.
• Performs product inspections (static and power test inspections) according to each product's technical manuals. • Performs root cause analysis to determine, if possible, whether failure is a manufacturer defect or external, for warranty or denial purposes.
• Provides quotes for WEG product repairs.
• Records details of evaluations, defective parts found with cost of each, determination of worthiness of repair in the appropriate database.
• Keeps workbenches and repairs lab organized and clean.
• Helps the parts department identify parts for customers.
• Provides backup to the Field Service Engineer and Repair Lab Engineer

Knowledge & Skills:

• Basic understanding of electric motor operation, terminology, and troubleshooting principles.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of electrical and electronic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings, and technical manuals.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues while providing excellent customer support.
• Experience using computer applications and support databases to document service activities.

Experience:

• At least 1 year of experience in technical support, industrial maintenance, electric motors, electromechanical equipment, electrical systems, HVAC, or related technical fields.
• Troubleshooting experience with electrical, electronic, or industrial equipment preferred.
• Experience supporting customers, end users, technicians, or field service personnel is a plus.

Education:

• High School Diploma/GED and at least 1 year of relevant electrical/technical experience required. We may also consider candidates with a combination of technical training, certifications, and relevant engineering, technical, field service, or industry experience.
