Job summary

WEG Electric Corp. seeks a Service Engineer I to join our Duluth, GA team. You will provide technical support for WEG products, assist customers, distributors, and service centers with applications, troubleshooting, warranty claims, and repair recommendations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

WEG Electric Corp. has an exciting opportunity for a Service Engineer I to join our team in Duluth, GA.

The Service Engineer I provides technical support for WEG products by assisting customers, distributors, service centers, and internal teams with product applications, troubleshooting, warranty claims, and repair recommendations. This role serves as a key technical resource, responding to customer inquiries via phone and email while supporting warranty administration and coordination with third-party service providers.

This position is well-suited for professionals with several years of technical support or industrial experience who are looking to further develop their expertise in electric motors, industrial applications, and customer-focused technical support. Working closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, the Service Engineer I builds product knowledge while contributing to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to customers and end users via phone and email.
  • Troubleshoot product and application issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Receive, review, and process warranty claims.
  • Analyze warranty claim information and request additional details when required.
  • Communicate technical and quality-related issues with internal departments, including Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Operations.
  • Serve as a technical resource for both internal and external customers.
  • Issue warranty credits and coordinate claim resolution with customers and service providers.
  • Prepare return authorizations (RGAs) and factory bill-back documentation as needed.
  • Track product failures and warranty trends to support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop warranty and service-related reports for management.
  • Recommend replacement parts and repair options to customers.
  • Coordinate third-party service support when required.
  • Maintain warranty repair logs and accurate customer records.
  • Collaborate with team members to share technical knowledge and support departmental objectives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certificate in an electrical, mechanical, or related discipline preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field strongly preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical support, service engineering, warranty, or related customer support role.
  • Strong knowledge of electric motors and motor applications.
  • Working knowledge of industrial and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and product documentation.
  • Understanding of troubleshooting methodologies and technical problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of warranty processes and product support practices preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and business systems.
