Job summary

Sonic Automotive in the SF Bay Area seeks a Service Director to lead and grow the fixed-operations business across one or more dealerships. You will oversee Service, Parts, and Scheduling functions to maximize revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction while ensuring OEM and Sonic standards.

This role requires hands-on leadership, strong financial acumen, and a customer-first mindset, with a focus on coaching teams and driving KPI-driven improvements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years fixed-operations experience in automotive dealerships.
• 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Local to SF Bay Area, CA only.
• Strong knowledge of shop processes, flat-rate labor, RO management, warranty procedures, and parts inventory optimization.
• Proven ability to drive CSI improvement and throughput through KPI-driven management.
• Experience hiring, developing, and retaining technicians and advisors; coaching and succession planning.

Responsibilities

• Develops and coaches service managers, advisors, and technicians.
• Implements operational best practices and KPIs.
• Manages vendor and warranty relationships.
• Controls costs and parts inventory.
• Drives continuous improvement in CSI, throughput, and retention.
