Job description

Orange County, California, United States

GeoSearch is seeking a hands-on, organized, and technically capable Service Department Coordinator to support the delivery of professional services, equipment deployments, customer training, managed services, and technical support. This role combines service coordination with practical technical work. You will schedule projects, prepare and configure equipment, coordinate field resources, maintain service records, and perform installation, testing, and troubleshooting of IT, networking, drone, camera, communications, and autonomous-system equipment. The purpose of the role is to make sure every engagement is properly prepared, coordinated, installed, documented, and ready for the customer to operate.

Primary Responsibilities:

Service Coordination

  • Coordinate customer deployments, installations, training sessions, maintenance visits, and support activities, and maintain the service calendar, project tracker, ticket queue, and resource assignments.

  • Confirm scope, site access, equipment availability, personnel, travel, and customer prerequisites before every deployment.

  • Prepare work orders, checklists, service reports, and acceptance forms, and track milestones, warranties, and repair status.

Equipment Configuration & Preparation

  • Receive, inventory, label, inspect, configure, test, and stage equipment before shipment or field deployment.

  • Configure computers, tablets, routers, switches, access points, cellular gateways, cameras, NVRs, sensors, and related IT equipment.

  • Configure drone aircraft, controllers, batteries, payloads, docking stations, and charging systems, including activation, firmware updates, controller pairing, and account setup.

  • Apply approved accounts, permissions, network settings, and device-management configurations, and keep firmware and software on approved baselines.

  • Run pre-deployment functional testing, record serial numbers and results, and assemble complete deployment kits.

Installation & Field Deployment

  • Install and connect drone, IT, communications, camera, and remote-monitoring equipment at customer sites.

  • Assist with physical installation and commissioning of drone docks, weather sensors, network equipment, and mounting systems.

  • Perform basic network validation including IP configuration, connectivity, and authorized remote access; verify cable management, labeling, weather protection, power, and grounding; and support operational testing of drones, payloads, and docks.

  • Document installations with photographs, configuration records, and test results, and **escalate** electrical, construction, aviation, or engineering issues to qualified personnel.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Serve as an initial point of contact for service requests and technical support cases.

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, cellular, power, camera, drone, payload, and docking-system issues using approved remote-support tools.

  • Document symptoms, collect logs, reproduce reported problems, and **escalate** what cannot be resolved, then coordinate warranty claims, RMAs, repairs, and vendor cases through to closure.

Inventory, Readiness & Documentation

  • Maintain service tools, test equipment, deployment kits, demonstration systems, and spare-parts inventory, tracking check-out, location, and condition.

  • Perform scheduled inspections, battery-health checks, firmware reviews, and preventive maintenance.

  • Create and update SOPs, checklists, installation guides, troubleshooting guides, and customer handoff materials.

  • Follow safety, cybersecurity, quality-control, and data-handling requirements, and protect customer credentials, configuration files, and flight data.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, military training, or equivalent practical experience in IT, electronics, telecom, aviation, or robotics.

  • At least two years in technical support, field service, IT installation, electronics, systems integration, or drone operations.

  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, IP addressing, cellular connectivity, and cloud applications.

  • Able to configure and troubleshoot equipment from procedures, diagrams, and manufacturer documentation.

  • Strong organizational skills across multiple concurrent projects, schedules, and customer requests.

  • Professional written and verbal communication, including explaining technical information to nontechnical customers.

  • Valid driver's license, ability to travel to customer sites, and ability to satisfy customer background checks and site-access requirements.

Preferred

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, or ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment.

  • Experience with commercial or enterprise drones, payloads, and docking stations, including DJI Enterprise, FlytBase, DJI FlightHub 2, or DroneDeploy.

  • Experience installing or supporting cameras, NVRs, cellular routers, PoE devices, antennas, or mobile surveillance equipment.

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or comparable technical certification.

  • Experience supporting public safety, industrial, energy, construction, or government customers.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in varying weather, and stand, walk, bend, or climb stairs during installation.

  • Travel by vehicle or air and occasionally work outside normal business hours. Work at height, electrical work, or other regulated activity only with required training, authorization, and qualified supervision.
