Job summary

The Mather in Evanston seeks a Service Attendant to support Resident Engagement and Resident Services. You will set up rooms for events, assist with AV and tech needs, coordinate reservations, and respond to resident requests with a strong customer service mindset.

You’ll operate on a Tuesday–Saturday schedule 8:30 am–4:30 pm with flexibility for additional days or evenings as needed. Strong communication and organization are essential to success in this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and reset rooms for programs and events with furniture, décor, and AV equipment.
  • Assist residents with lockouts and well-being checks, ensuring safety and satisfaction.
  • Deliver items and packages, including balloons and gifts, within the community.
  • Process room reservations and coordinate work orders with internal teams as needed.
  • Provide back-up coverage for concierge when required and respond to routine requests.
  • Contribute to special events and daily check-in reports.

Job description

We’re seeking a Service Attendant to join our team at The Mather in Evanston, Illinois. In this role, you’ll help create a seamless daily experience for residents by supporting Resident Engagement and Resident Services/Concierge through a wide range of hands-on responsibilities-setting up and resetting rooms for programs and events (tables, chairs, furniture, décor/theme items), assisting with audio/visual set-ups (movies, virtual meetings, presentations), completing room reservations and coordinating work orders, and responding promptly to radio requests. You’ll also support resident needs through well-being checks and assistance with lockouts, while handling package and item delivery and serving as a back-up to the concierge desk for break relief or unexpected coverage needs. Success in this role requires strong customer service, comfort using Microsoft Outlook, resident-facing apps, and related work order/technology systems, and the ability to prioritize multiple demands in a fast-moving environment.

The schedule for this position is Tuesday - Saturday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; flexibility required to work on other days, and some evenings based on business needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Setting and resetting rooms for programs and events; including tables, chairs and miscellaneous furniture items; audio visual equipment and laptop computers as needed; decorative or theme items, etc.
  • Assisting residents with lockouts and conducting well-being checks; analyzing the situation and subsequently addressing residents’ needs in a timely, professional manner and taking appropriate steps to ensure their safety and satisfaction.
  • Carrying and delivering items and packages; delivering birthday balloons and cards from The Mather to our residents.
  • Using Microsoft Outlook or other software as implemented, complete room reservations and coordinate work orders for assistance by other experience centers (such as building services, housekeeping and culinary services).
  • Responds in a timely manner to radio requests requiring immediate attention.
  • Functions as back-up to concierge desk staff to provide relief during break periods or in other emergency or unforeseen situations such as call offs or other unplanned absences.
  • Completes daily check-in report.
  • Assisting Resident Engagement Services experience center with special events.
  • Identifies areas for improvement, proposes possible solutions, and participate in data collection and process changes as part of the Quality Assurance Process Improvement process.
  • Assist with audio/visual set ups such as movies, virtual meetings and presentations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • High school graduate.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to utilize MS Outlook and work order software systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple demands on time and projects.

The hourly base wage range provided is a good faith estimate of what Mather reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, certifications, years of experience, geographic location, and current market conditions.

Hourly Pay Range

$20 - $22 USD
