The server performs fine-dining service points in any Lodge Food and Beverage outlet to which they are assigned, offering hospitable, informed, and prompt service.
Essential Functions
- Set up kitchen and dining room work areas in a timely, thorough, and consistent manner, at a capacity to handle more business than projected.
- Maintain all work areas in a neat, efficient manner during service.
- Present a knowledgeable, professional demeanor at all times during service.
- Prioritize, organize, and maintain efficiency as work volume fluctuates.
- Use high level technical service practices.
- Display knowledgeable command of menu items and products offered in the outlet, as well as specific Lodge and general local and greater area information.
- Know hours, styles, and menu items for all department outlets.
- Communicate effectively, respectfully with all co-workers, including kitchen staff, to expedite food order entry, pick‑up, and service.
- Ensure adherence to all house policies and state regulations for liquor service and smoking.
- Collect payment and signed guest checks accurately, promptly, and responsibly at conclusion of guest service.
- Reconcile receipts, sales reporting, and shift close paperwork accurately and consistently.
- Clean up, break down, and reset work station and dining room thoroughly and efficiently.
Other Responsibilities
- Be informed of Lodge and department policies, events, and activities and respond to inquiries.
- Know work schedule and follow department policies on schedule requests and shift swapping.
- Practice safety, good judgment, and responsibility regarding workplace hazards and handling all department and Lodge property and equipment.
- Make all interactions mutually respectful and contribute to a constructive atmosphere.
- See responsibility for high standards of presentation to the guest extending to property‑wide areas.
- Strive to be ready for unexpected high business volume, assisting in other outlets when they are unexpectedly busy.
- Contribute to department and Lodge goals.
- Read, know, and follow the employee handbook.
- Perform other work‑related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills Preferred
- One to two years of industry experience in a server capacity, preferably in a fine‑dining establishment emphasizing quality across a broad range of food and beverage items and precise technical service.
- Good communication, organization, and concentration skills.
- Attain Utah state‑approved liquor handler’s certification within 90 days of hire and retain the certificate.
- Ability to work with other servers and all other department staff as a team to attain consistent execution of department standards.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
