Job summary

SMS InfoComm Corporation is seeking a Server Repair Technician in Grapevine, TX to test, diagnose, and replace parts on servers sent for repair. Strong understanding of Linux, server architecture, and diagnostics is required, with hands-on experience in assembling components and executing stress tests.

The role emphasizes meticulous documentation, collaboration with repair and QC teams, and adherence to safety and process standards in a warehouse setting.

Qualifications

• Education – High school diploma or equivalent technical experience, certifications in Server support and architecture desired
• Experience – troubleshooting and diagnosing servers, experience with computer tools such as email, spreadsheets, and call tracking or shop repair tools
• Experience with replacing parts on servers
• Experience with server configuration
• Good written and verbal skills – needs to documents errors and repairs
• Industry/Environment: Prefer to have worked in a PC or server type of environment
• Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and diagnose servers
• Replace parts as needed
• Conduct and analyze server stress tests
• Document all symptoms, test results, and parts replaced in shop floor tool
• Collaborate with motherboard repair, motherboard testing, QC, whole unit repair, and inspections personnel
• Provide back up for QC, inspection, whole unit repair, and motherboard testing
• Maintain parts consumption
• Other duties as assigned by leadership
• Maintain and nurture positive work environment
• Work and collaborate with other teams such as warehouse, shipping, receiving, etc.
• Follow process for system and parts management
• Know basic server architecture
• Know how to assemble components to make server functional
• Run and understand testing diagnostics
• Understand basic networking architecture
• Understand basic error codes
• Able to trouble shoot common server errors and issues
• Motivated to solve problems
• Interested in constantly learning about servers and networking
• Increased understanding of testing and error codes
• Brings knowledge to enhance trouble shooting and diagnosis of failures
• Understands end to end flow of server repair process
• Know Linux commands and able to use terminal.
