Job summary

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking an experienced Server Engineer to join the Information Systems team in the Southern Tier of New York. The role covers on-premises and cloud-based server infrastructure, focusing on Windows/Linux administration, VMware, Active Directory, backup, and system management.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field or 4+ years IT Server/Storage experience.
• Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field; 5+ years IT Server/Storage experience; certifications like CompTIA Server+, VMware VCA6-DCV.

Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise server infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.
• Administer Windows Server and Linux systems and VMware hypervisor platforms.
• Manage databases, web, email, and business-critical applications.
• Maintain system management and monitoring tools for performance and availability.
• Perform provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
• Manage VMware environments and storage platforms; ensure backup and restore readiness.
• Monitor performance and advocate improvements for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity testing.
• Maintain Microsoft Active Directory including domain controllers, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, and OU structures.
• Implement and maintain security permissions and access controls.
• Apply security best practices, perform vulnerability remediation, and support audits/compliance.
• Troubleshoot server, OS, virtualization, storage, and infrastructure issues; perform root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document changes.
• Participate in on-call support and maintenance activities.
