Job summary

Mainsail Lodging & Development seeks enthusiastic Server Assistants to support dining operations at our properties. You will greet guests, assist servers, and ensure exceptional service with attention to detail and safety.

This role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to standards, and a positive guest experience. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or higher and prior hospitality or serving experience, preferably in a Southwest Florida area setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher required.
• Previous hospitality/serving position preferred – minimum one year.
• Server Assistant/Backwater/Food Runner in Southwest Florida area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and serve in a gracious, professional manner.
• Run food and assist servers as needed.
• Assist with deliveries to guest rooms as required.
• Maintain station cleanliness and restock as needed.
• Follow cash handling procedures and steps of service.
• Attend department meetings and daily stand-ups.
• Follow training manual procedures and uphold standards.

Server assistants will be responsible of the dining experience to include greeting the guest, serving the guest in a gracious and professional manner that represents the highest of standards to ensure exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance with Innovation Hotel service standards and Mainsail Lodging & Development standards.

Essential Functions

• Serves guests in an efficient courteous manner following the proper steps of service
• Runs food and assists servers as needed
• Comfort level with running food/drinks/deliveries inside guest rooms
• Report to work on time and in proper uniform/approved attire
• Work as a team with all team members within the hotel
• Check station assigned for cleanliness of area
• Set up tables with items needed for service such as salt, pepper, cutlery, glassware, dishware
• Have necessary tools to run the shift such as tray, pen, corkscrew, crumber
• Knowledge of all menu items to include: prep time, preparations, sauces, allergies, and accompaniments
• Keeping Back of House clean and tidy with all provided guidelines of ‘everything in its place’
• Be aware of any specials, soups, drinks, and any items that are running low
• Ability to handle station, or when situations arise, ability to let manager/supervisor know ahead of time so as not to affect the guest experience
• Follow cash handling procedures
• Follow the proper steps of service consistently with every table as outlined in training manual
• Clears tables quickly and quietly ensuring no residue is left on the table
• Ability to carry a service tray
• Detail tables and remove items not in use
• Never solicit tips
• Attend monthly department meetings and daily stand ups
• Perform other duties as management requests to service our guests
• Follow the procedures addressed in the training manual

Qualification Standards Education & Experience

• High School diploma or higher
• Previous hospitality/serving position preferred – minimum one-year
• Server Assistant, Backwater, or Food Runner in Southwest Florida area preferred

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and in a potentially hot area under a heat lamp
• Ability to walk and bend
• Ability to lift 25 pounds
• Ability to communicate clearly
• Corrected vision to normal range
• Long hours sometimes required
