Job summary

Mainsail Lodging & Development is seeking a personable Bartender to craft cocktails and non‑alcoholic beverages to spec, deliver exceptional service, and keep a clean, organized bar in a guest‑centered environment.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of bartending experience in a high-volume setting, excellent customer service and communication skills, and knowledge of beverages, wines, and food pairings. Florida Southwest experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or higher.
  • Minimum 2-year bartending experience in high volume bar or restaurant.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Curate guests’ bar experience by making recommendations.
  • Knowledge of all beverages to include liquors and wines.
  • Serve guests in a courteous manner following proper steps of service.
  • Follow cash handling procedures and explain discrepancies.
  • Maintain bar area and assist with food running when needed.

Job description

We’re looking for enthusiastic, fun, and energetic people who take the work seriously, but not themselves. Let’s see if we’re a fit. We hope so. The Bartender will be responsible for making alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by following recipes and delivering high-quality food and drinks in a clean and friendly environment. The Bartender will also be responsible for ensuring exceptional service to all guests that are consistent and continually in accordance with the service standards of Mainsail Lodging & Development.

Essential Functions
  • Curate guests’ bar experience by making recommendations
  • Knowledge of all beverages to include liquors and wines
  • Serves guests in an efficient courteous manner following the proper steps of service
  • Knowledge of proper cocktail making, as trained by Innovation Management
  • Have necessary tools to run the shift such as pen, corkscrew, any bar tools, etc.
  • Ability to pair wines with meals
  • Understanding that bar servers full menu and must be prepared as much to serve full coursed or shared meals to guests
  • Light food running when applicable, ability to carry plates that may be warm or hot
  • Knowledge of all menu items to include: prep time, preparations, sauces, allergies, and accompaniments
  • Collect payment for food and beverages served
  • Follow practices to ensure safe and responsible serving of alcohol
  • Be aware of any specials, soups, drinks, and any items that are running low
  • Ability to handle station, or when situations arise, ability to let manager/supervisor know ahead of time so as not to affect the guest experience
  • Follow cash handling procedures, and must be able to explain shortages and overages
  • Maintain bar area
  • Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
  • Perform other duties as management requests to service our guests.
Qualification Standards
  • Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or higher
  • Previous hospitality experience required
  • Minimum 2-year bartending experience in high volume bar or restaurant preferable in the Southwest, Florida area
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to use technology e.g. tablets, iPads

  • Ability to communicate clearly

  • Ability to work long hours as needed
