Job summary

The Inn at Little Washington, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, invites you to join our team for an entry-level Front of House role. Our goal is to deliver a 5-Star, 5-Diamond, 3-Michelin Star experience to every guest.

You will support the Dining Room team, maintain service areas, and learn dining room etiquette and standards. We provide on-the-job training and opportunities for advancement in a renowned, award-winning property.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Well-groomed and well-presented with no visible tattoos.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Summary

This is an entry level position assisting in daily Front of House operations to deliver a 5-Star, 5-Diamond, 3-Michelin Star experience to all guests. Maintain all aspects of the service areas. Serve as a support to the Dining Room team.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates knowledge of basic dining room/phone standards and etiquette
• Expediently and with great skill performs polishing/sorting/distributing all types of glasses and silverware/Ability to identify various types of glassware and silverware
• Recognizes all linens and folds for all shifts. Strip linens daily for service
• Demonstrates knowledge of table numbers
• Able to clear/set/reset a table (Breakfast/Tea/Dinner)
• Knowledge of garden setup/breakdown (including fire-pit seasonally)
• Storage of flowers and setup/breakdown
• Location and retrieval of Ice/ will routinely refill ice
• Can properly break down dishes in wait station #4
• Able to reset tables to pristine condition
• Maintains organization in WS4
• Has understanding of property layout and where all the rooms are located
• Demonstrates understanding of The Forbes Travel Guide’s standards

Qualifications

Required

• Excellent communication skills
• Must be at least 16 years of age

Desirable

• Familiarity with Forbes Standards
• Ability to communicate in a language other than English, preferably Spanish or French
• Certification in alcohol awareness programCertification in CPRPrior experience with Resortsuite and Tock

• Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing
• Strong interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written
• Must always be organized and maintain cleanliness of workstation
• Ability to speak using clear and professional language
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to cross-train across multiple departments and assist when needed
• Ability to assist guests with questions about the property, it’s history, and surrounding areas

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to lift 30+ lbs.
• Able to stand, bend and walk for long periods of time
• Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting and climbing
