Position Summary

We are currently hiring for server assistant staff — this role requires open availability on the weekends. As a member of the event’s server assistant team at Wythe Hotel you play one of the most critical roles in ensuring that our guests are well taken care of. Our server assistant staff are warm, knowledgeable, proficient and capable. Server assistants are the unsung hero of the event, a bridge between behind the scenes and on the floor maintenance and a pillar of delivering consistent and fluid service. This job is physically demanding and requires the ability to easily lift up to 20 pounds to include glassware racks, tables, ice buckets etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting up events stations for success; bus tubs, clearly marked bags for used linens, maintaining a clean and organized polishing area.
  • Assisting bar team with prep duties; filling and restocking ice wells, stocking liquors and batch for service, transitioning of outside terrace bar from cocktail hour back inside main event hall bar.
  • Clearing tables at the appropriate time and in the correct manner.
  • Resetting room — setting up couches / tables / chairs according to floor plan.
  • Maintaining readily available glassware, cutlery and plates throughout service.
  • Side-work including but not limited to: cleaning and polishing silverware and glassware, cutting bread, portioning butter, sweeping, mopping, spot detailing tables.
  • Ensuring smooth breakdown of events to include correctly bussing rental glassware back into the appropriate racks, bringing trash and used linens to appropriate spaces [trash room / kitchen laundry], breaking down tables, ensuring events items are returned to storage spaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Greeting all guests warmly upon arrival and departure.
  • Moving throughout the event with attention to detail and finesse amongst a large group.
  • Communication and openness to active problem solving.
  • Close attention to detail, cleanliness etc.
  • Close attention to the state of our guests, if they seem to be finished, if they require a server, if they require water, if they require assistance with anything, if they are uncomfortable forany reason.
  • Positivity and a desire to have fun and do a good job.
