Job Summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Roy, UT is seeking a Software Reliability Systems Engineering Manager 2 to support the Sentinel Program. This dual‑hat role leads a team of reliability and maintainability engineers while also managing program responsibilities. The position may provide relocation assistance and requires a Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead a motivated team of reliability and maintainability engineers.
  • Develop technical reliability studies and evaluate engineering design concepts, including design of experiments.
  • Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures to achieve required levels of product software reliability.
  • Compile and analyze performance reports and process control statistics; investigate variables affecting product and processes.
  • Ensure corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
  • Analyze preliminary plans and develop reliability engineering programs to meet company, customer, and governmental requirements.
  • Develop mathematical models to identify units, batches, or processes posing excessive failure risks.
  • Propose changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability.
  • Determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing and specify minimum sample sizes for statistically valid data.
  • Provide objective‑oriented direction to subordinates, performance feedback, salary reviews, training, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Plan and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality for large system development or delivery projects.
  • Develop and document software specifications and verification methodology to ensure reliability requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with Senior RAM-C/CBM+ Manager and lead teams in establishing personal program and functional goals and performing performance evaluations.
  • Coach, support, train, and motivate team members to maintain high performance.
  • Collaborate with peers and direct management in resource planning and hiring; assess staffing needs and work with team leads to address those needs.
  • Support CBM+ architecture and tool development to optimize scheduled maintenance and reduce lifecycle cost.
  • Embed prognostic and diagnostic capabilities, including physics‑based, data‑driven, or hybrid prognostic models.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related experience, or 6 years of experience with a Master’s Degree.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at the time of application, with investigation completed within the last 6 years.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Software Design/Analysis or Prognostic Model Development.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 6 years of relatable work experience.
  • 2+ years of management experience and demonstrated ability to manage concurrent efforts.
  • Proven problem‑solving and organizational skills in independent and team environments.
  • Experience leading and motivating a team, establishing cross‑organizational relationships, and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience building relationships with customers within DoD organizations.
  • In‑depth aerospace or ICBM software maintenance experience and knowledge of mechanical and electrical ICBM subsystems.
  • Proficiency in Software Design/Analysis, Prognostic Model Development, and Reliability Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using tools such as Cameo or SysML.
  • Experience with reliability engineering, including FMEA/FMECA, reliability‑centered design, and tools such as Reliasoft or MADe.
  • Understanding and experience using Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
  • Experience managing internal and external personnel, including subcontractors and internal work orders.
  • Experience with common NG tools such as CPLM, Teamcenter, Workday, Concur, or SAP.
  • Experience with Configuration Management (CM) and Data Management (DM) practices.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Top‑Secret clearance if required.
Pay and Bonuses

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100 – $208,700. Salary offers consider scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and potential long‑term incentives for higher‑level positions.
