Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections seeks a CORRECTIONAL SENTENCE TECHNICIAN-F/C for the Dade Correctional Institution. You will help assess and classify inmates based on needs, risks, and behaviors to ensure proper housing and program placement within the correctional system.

Responsibilities include reviewing commitments, updating jail time calculations, coordinating with Public Defenders, State Attorneys, sheriffs, and court clerks to correct sentence data, and maintaining accurate records in

Qualifications

• Must possess a High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Background screening Level 2 required.
• U.S. citizenship or authorized to work in the U.S.
• No H-1B sponsorship.
• Veterans’ Preference applies.

Responsibilities

• Look at commitment documents to understand sentencing rules, update sentence information, and ensure release dates are correct.
• Collaborate with Public Defenders, State Attorneys, Sheriffs, and Court Clerks to fix mistakes in commitment documents and clarify sentences.
• Search the inmate information system to identify and fix errors in inmate identification and numbers in OBIS.
• Review new commitments after intake to decide on inmate numbers and recalculate release dates, informing the Central Office of updates.
