Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking a Sensor Simulation Expert to design, validate, and improve high‑fidelity virtual sensor models.

You will enable autonomous construction concepts by creating scalable sensor pipelines for cameras, LiDAR, radar, GNSS, and IMU within Omniverse and digital twin environments. You will mentor engineers, define fidelity metrics, collaborate with perception and autonomy teams, and drive production‑grade simulation solutions that reduce physical testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 5+ years in sensor development, simulation, or autonomy.
• Strong Python and C++ programming skills.
• Hands-on Omniverse, Isaac Sim, OpenUSD experience.
• Experience validating sensor models against data.
• Knowledge of LiDAR, radar, cameras, GNSS, IMU.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-fidelity sensor models.
• Define fidelity requirements and performance metrics.
• Implement realistic sensor characteristics and configurations.
• Develop Omniverse Kit extensions and workflows.
• Validate simulations against real data and improve models.
• Collaborate with perception, autonomy, and software teams.
