Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Sensor Simulation Expert to design, validate, and continuously improve high‑fidelity virtual sensor models within the NVIDIA Omniverse ecosystem.

You will enable autonomous systems, digital twins, and virtual validation by producing accurate sensor outputs and scalable simulation pipelines. Collaborate with autonomy, perception, controls, and software teams to accelerate product development while reducing physical testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Robotics, Electrical, CS, or related).
• 5+ years in sensor development, simulation, robotics, autonomy, or perception.
• Strong Python and C++ programming skills.
• Hands-on with NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, OpenUSD or similar.
• Deep understanding of sensor physics and perception systems.
• Experience modeling cameras, LiDAR, radar, GNSS, IMU.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-fidelity sensor models for cameras, LiDAR, radar, GNSS, IMU.
• Define fidelity requirements and performance metrics for simulation.
• Implement realistic sensor characteristics and calibration effects.
• Create configurable sensor models for multiple hardware platforms.
• Develop Omniverse Kit extensions and workflows for sensor applications.
• Collaborate with perception, autonomy, and software teams.
• Validate simulated outputs against real sensor data.
• Contribute to virtual testing environments and digital twins.
