Job summary

City of Franklin seeks a qualified zoning/enforcement professional to enforce the Unified Development Ordinance and manage land-use regulations. The role involves reviewing plans, inspecting sites, and coordinating with planners and boards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in engineering and/or code enforcement, can interpret regulations, and communicate clearly with owners and contractors. A valid Ohio driver's license is required for field work and inspections.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in engineering and/or code enforcement and urban planning.
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, codes, procedures.
• Ability to inspect property for unsafe or unsanitary conditions and violations.
• Ability to explain ordinances clearly to property owners and mediate disputes.
• Ability to write reports and maintain records per procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure development and occupancy conform to zoning, land use, drainage and stormwater rules.
• Interpret City Codes and specifications for permit decisions.
• Process zoning applications and determine approvals or denials.
• Receive complaints, investigate, and provide testimony where needed.
• Advise contractors, developers and owners on zoning regulations and requirements.
• Conduct field inspections to verify permit compliance and maintain records.
• Serve as staff liaison to Planning Commission and other City boards and agencies.
