Job summary

Astemo Ltd. in Indiana is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to drive inverter/ power control unit development for xEV applications.

You will collaborate with a global team to translate customer requirements into robust hardware and software solutions, with hybrid on-site work 2–3 days per week. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in automotive powertrain design, strong CATIA CAE proficiency, and the ability to interface with customers and suppliers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience designing automotive powertrain components.
• 3-D CAD creation and 2-D drawing creation experience.
• Mechanical CAE experience (thermal, structural).
• Understanding electrified vehicle system and integration.
• Experience interfacing with customers and/or suppliers to explain technical documents/drawings.
• Fluent English; Japanese language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or support technology development for new xEV Inverter business.
• Plan and manage multiple projects to meet objectives within timeframes.
• Evaluate customer requirements and work with global team to design inverter solutions.
• Facilitate technical communication between OEM customers and US/Japan teams.
• Participate in design improvements, validation, and production launch activities.
• Create and/or oversee technical specifications as needed for product design.
• Provide on-site support to inverter manufacturing sites during sample and mass production.
• Support pricing, quoting, and cost investigations.
• Prepare technical data using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CAD/CAE tools.
