Job summary

ASTEMO AMERICAS, INC. is seeking an experienced engineer to support technology development for mechanical electronic controllers and drive inverter/power control unit design for customer systems.

The role collaborates with a global engineering team to meet requirements in a hybrid work setting. The ideal candidate has 5+ years designing automotive powertrain components and strong CATIA/CAD/CAE capabilities, plus fluency in English and Japanese.

Qualifications

• BSME required; 5+ years of practical work experience designing automotive powertrain components (drive Inverters preferred).
• Experience with 3-D CAD creation and 2-D drawing creation.
• Proficiency with CATIA 3-D CAD; able to produce detailed drawings.
• Understanding of electrified vehicle system integration.
• Experience interfacing with customers and/or suppliers to explain technical documents/drawings/information.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing projects from concept through execution.
• Fluent in English and Japanese.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technology development for new xEV inverter business.
• Plan and manage activities for multiple projects to meet goals.
• Receive, evaluate, and utilize customer requirements; collaborate with global team for optimum inverter design.
• Facilitate technical communication between OEM customers and US/Japan teams, Astemo sites, and suppliers.
• Participate in design improvements, performance validation, and production launches for xEV inverters.
• Create or oversee technical specifications for product design.
• Provide on-site support to inverter manufacturing sites during sample and mass production.
• Support pricing, quoting, and cost investigations.
• Prepare technical data/documents using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, CAE, etc.
• Research and develop state-of-the-art engineering solutions and manufacturing technologies.
• Support product validation testing and prototype builds.
