Job summary

IMT Insurance in West Des Moines, IA is seeking a Workers' Compensation Specialist to manage a high-volume, high-complexity claims portfolio. You will lead complex claims, reserve management, and work with legal, medical providers, and TPAs to secure favorable outcomes.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentorship of junior staff, and program development within a hybrid work environment. A strong background in workers' compensation and related certifications is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in Workers’ Compensation Claims Management, including handling complex or high-risk claims.
• CWCP or ARM certifications are preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, risk management, or related field preferred.
• Advanced expertise in workers' compensation laws, claims management strategies, and litigation processes.
• Strong leadership abilities with mentoring, training, and staff development experience.
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to manage difficult claims and stakeholders.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to present complex claims information to executives and partners.
• Strong financial acumen for managing large claim reserves, budgeting, and cost-control initiatives.
• Ability to analyze complex claims data to derive actionable insights.
• Proficient in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Complex Claims Management: Independently manage a high-volume and high-complexity caseload.
• Advanced Case Reserve Management: Set and adjust substantial monetary reserves for large claims.
• Strategic Claims Oversight: Develop strategies to reduce claim costs and expedite resolution.
• Litigation & Settlement Negotiation: Lead negotiations with legal teams to settle claims.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior team members.
• Program Development & Process Improvement: Identify improvements and optimize procedures.
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Reporting & Strategy: Prepare detailed management reports and strategic recommendations.
• Regulatory Compliance & Industry Leadership: Stay updated on regulations and best practices.
• External Relationships: Manage vendors and TPAs with SLAs to optimize service and cost.
