Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage is seeking a qualified risk management professional to oversee workers’ compensation claims, develop action plans, and adjust a complex caseload. This role supports litigation, report writing, and program management within the Risk Management department at City Hall.

Candidates must meet the education/experience mix listed, pass a background check, and hold Alaska driver's license; position requires compliance with E-verify and related MOA guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 9 years of related experience.
• Associate’s degree with 7 years related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years related experience.
• Master’s degree with 3 years related experience.
• Satisfactory background check at time of hire.
• Alaska driver’s license and driving record at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review new workers’ compensation claim assignments and develop a plan of action.
• Adjust caseload of existing claims to conclusion and revise plans as needed.
• Prepare reports, settlement analyses, and contemporaneous notes.
• Notify Risk Manager of items of concern.
• Adhere to MOA Driving Conviction Guidelines and keep licenses current.

Education

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with 9 years experience

Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting or similar

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Accounting or similar

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting or similar
