Job summary

OPTI STAFFING GROUP in Anchorage, AK is hiring a Claims Assistant / Adjuster Trainee to support the claims team. You will set up new claims, process medical bills, request records, and manage documentation while learning Alaska Workers' Compensation processes.

The role reports to the Claims Adjuster and includes front-desk duties, with opportunities for growth toward an adjuster role within a supportive, benefits-rich environment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a claims assistant or in a comparable insurance industry role
• Typing speed of 40+ WPM with minimal errors
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong reasoning to learn state/federal reporting requirements and Alaska workers' comp
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to stay focused under deadlines

Responsibilities

• Set up new claims and maintain accurate electronic files in the claims system
• Process incoming mail and scan documents, ensuring every page is captured
• Prepare correspondence and respond to inquiries from claimants, providers, and vendors
• Process medical bills for audit, enter bills for payment, and issue payments with documentation
• Request medical records and manage the discovery process
• Arrange travel for injured workers and prepare insurance claim kits
• Serve as receptionist, answer phones and greet visitors professionally
