Job summary

AvonRisk is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster II to manage a complex indemnity claims inventory from intake to resolution. You will apply sound judgment, knowledge of WC statutes, and proactive medical management across diverse self-insured client accounts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of California Worker's Compensation claims adjusting experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• 5 years of California Worker's Compensation claims adjusting experience without a Bachelor's degree.
• Active adjuster license in applicable state(s).
• SIP designation preferred but not required; AvonRisk supports employees in obtaining required adjuster licensure where applicable.
• Professional designations such as AIC, ARM, or WCCP a plus.
• Proficiency in reading medical records and IME reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform three-point contact within 24 hours on all new losses and analyze case facts; assess compensability.
• Identify fraud indicators and refer to SIU; ensure claims follow statutes and guidelines.
• Direct medical care through the claim lifecycle: treatment authorization, UR/IME direction, VR plan review.
• Establish and adjust reserves within authority; prepare 90-day carrier status reports.
• Direct defense counsel, set litigation strategy, manage budgets, and attend mediations.
• Negotiate settlements including lien resolution; pursue subrogation and contributions.
• Maintain proactive communication with workers, employers, carriers, counsel, and vendors.
