Job summary

Avalara, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager of People Technology to lead the Workday platform across the employee lifecycle—HCM, Talent, Performance, Compensation, Time Off, Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting, and Extend.

You’ll guide a team of Workday experts and map priorities to a practical roadmap, partnering with People & Culture, Talent Acquisition, and Finance. You’ll own governance, security, and integrations, drive end-to-end delivery of major initiatives, and push AI and automation to improve

Qualifications

• 10+ years in HRIS/People Technology with hands-on Workday in a global environment.
• 4+ years of people management in Workday or HR tech.
• Deep functional knowledge of multiple Workday modules: Core HCM, Talent, Performance, Compensation, Time Off, Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting, Extend.

Responsibilities

• Platform ownership: serve as product owner for Workday across key modules.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of major Workday initiatives including design, configuration oversight, testing, and deployment.
• Manage integrations between Workday and downstream systems (payroll, benefits, identity, analytics).
• Governance and security: define configuration standards, security model, and governance for SOX and privacy.
• Operational excellence: oversee day-to-day Workday operations and track KPIs.
• People leadership: manage and develop a Workday team with clear growth plans.
• Stakeholder partnership: act as primary Workday partner for HR, TA, Payroll, Finance, and business leaders.
• AI & automation collaboration: identify and deliver AI use cases in Workday workflows.
