Job summary

Avalara seeks a Senior Manager of People Technology to lead the Workday platform across HR, Talent, and Payroll. You will guide a team of experts to design and support scalable solutions for the employee lifecycle, partnering with People & Culture, Talent Acquisition, and Finance.

The role emphasizes roadmapping releases, end-to-end delivery, SOX/security alignment, and delivering a reliable, user-friendly system for a growing organization that values AI-driven improvements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in HRIS/People Technology with ownership of Workday in a global environment.
• 6+ years of hands-on Workday ownership across Core HCM, Talent/Performance, Absence/Time Off, Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or a closely related field; Workday certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day Workday operations, governance, and system reliability.
• Design, configure, and optimize Workday modules to meet business needs.
• Coordinate with Audit, Security, and Compliance for SOX and access reviews.
• Partner with People & Culture, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Finance for roadmap and releases.
• Own change governance, release planning, and trade-off communications with stakeholders.
• Drive AI/automation opportunities within Workday workflows and data quality improvements.
