Job summary

Metra is seeking a Supervisor, Work Equipment to oversee daily repair and maintenance of the department's machinery and tools. You will supervise mechanics, review work quality, and ensure timely, safe repairs in a demanding railroad environment.

The role requires leadership, extensive experience in heavy equipment repair, and knowledge of applicable safety and regulatory standards. Flex hours and regional travel are possible in this critical operations position.

Qualifications

• Journeyman certification or a combination of education and experience that equals two years in heavy equipment repair.
• In addition to #1, must have five (5) years of experience in heavy equipment repair.
• Good knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and laws related to the railroad industry.

Responsibilities

• Assign, review, and evaluate the work of mechanics in the repair and maintenance of the department's work equipment.
• Ensure repairs are completed safely, timely, and according to quality standards.
• Prepare and maintain equipment maintenance schedules and parts supply records.
