Job summary

The Boeing Company in North Charleston, SC is seeking a Senior Structures Design Engineer to lead wing and empennage structural design. You will work within the Wing & Empennage Life Cycle Product Team to define requirements, develop designs and coordinate across engineering, production and suppliers.

You will analyze and validate designs through testing, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to CFR Part 25 certification efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical or Material Sciences.
• 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience with aircraft structural design.
• 3+ years of experience with design of composite structures.

Responsibilities

• Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the wing and/or empennage design.
• Develops, maintains and modifies structural designs using 3-D CAD tools to provide product definition to engineering groups, production, suppliers and external customers.
• Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify the structural design meets requirements.
• Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
• Assists with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
• Active leader in the growth of a new organization performing lead level duties, mentorship, and training of developing team members.
• Develops certification related documentation to support CFR Part 25 Type Cert projects.
• Collaborates and performs oversight on projects with international partners/suppliers.
• Applies Part 21 and Part 25 CFR knowledge and facilitates interactions with Federal Regulators.
