Southwest Research Institute seeks a Lead IT Specialist – Sr. IT Specialist focused on Windows & VMware infrastructure.

The role covers design, deployment, and ongoing support of the VMware environment, Windows servers, Active Directory, and related enterprise infrastructure. The position requires strong collaboration with storage, networking, and security teams to meet compliance and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related degree field, or 10 years of hands-on VMware experience in lieu of a degree.
• Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE or VMware certifications are preferred.
• 6+ years of experience with VMware design, implementation and support in an enterprise environment.
• 2 years of experience installing and supporting 3rd party applications on Windows servers.
• 1 year of patching and remediation of security vulnerabilities in hosting infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced expertise in VMware ESXi, vCenter Server, and supporting technologies for design, implementation, and support of the VMware environment.
• Lead VMware architectural guidance on performance, capacity, and utilization.
• Design, implement, and support upgrades, migrations, and platform changes in an enterprise environment.
• Support Windows Server, Active Directory considerations, and configuration management.
• Collaborate with storage, networking, and security teams to meet resource, compliance, and security requirements.
• Create virtual machines, patching, and addressing security vulnerabilities in VMware and supporting infrastructure.
