Job summary

AVANGRID POWER, LLC is seeking a mechanical engineer to support its wind turbine and solar PV fleet. The role focuses on resolving issues with drivetrain, structures, foundations, bearings, and related systems, ensuring reliability and safety on site in Portland, OR.

The candidate will analyze issues, work with OEMs and service providers, and drive improvements and studies to enhance performance. A background in FEA/CAD tools and field measurements is essential.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Renewables.
• Comprehensive writing skills.
• Working knowledge of office and engineering analysis programs.
• Familiarity with FEA, aeroelastic and CAD modeling programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Ansys, Flex, Bladed; testing/measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME in mechanical systems areas and support fleet on technical issues; propose improvements.
• Investigate anomalies and failures; perform inspections and root-cause analyses.
• Coordinate with external professionals and consultants for investigations.
• Create technical summaries documenting progress and experience.
• Organize meetings with OEMs and service providers to ensure quality and contract compliance.
• Identify and propose engineering studies to improve reliability and performance of turbine components.
• Evaluate OEM design modifications and prepare summaries for decision making.
• Support operating fleet to maintain safety and maximize availability.
• Visit plants and suppliers to investigate issues and support program deployments.
