Job summary

Leeward Renewable Energy seeks a Turbine Engineer III (P3) to support wind turbine engineering and improve energy capture, reliability, and efficiency. The role reports to the Manager of Turbine Engineering, Operations and requires managing complex, time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment.

The position involves analyzing SCADA data, developing data models, and producing detailed reports with root-cause analyses and payback evaluations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from ABET-accredited institution.
• 4+ years of relevant technical experience; wind power generation preferred.
• Thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical system design, operation and maintenance.
• Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, and drawings (one-line, three-line, hydraulic, and wiring diagrams).
• Self-motivated, able to meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate ideas to non-technical colleagues.
• High level of competence with MS Office programs.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to perform physical requirements including standing, walking, climbing at project locations.
• Willingness to travel at least 30% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements solutions to improve plant performance and reliability.
• Interprets advanced equipment performance data (SCADA, condition monitoring, event files).
• Drives issue resolution and supports CAPEX/OPEX planning with technical input.
• Operates with moderate independence and proposes engineering solutions within defined parameters.
• Collaborates with asset management, HSE, compliance, and interfaces with suppliers.
• Interacts with internal and external clients to clarify requirements and provide technical input.
• Mentors less experienced team members and partners with senior colleagues across departments.
• Assesses wind turbine issues for reliability and performance improvements.
• Provides periodic on-site project management during execution of projects.
• Develops data analytical models for plant performance and prepares detailed technical reports.
