Job summary

Invenergy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III within Operations Engineering to support a fleet of wind energy projects. The role focuses on reliability and performance of drivetrain components, root cause analyses, and advancing processes and expertise.

The position involves monitoring gears, bearings, generators, and oil debris sensors; assessing damage, preparing reports, and coordinating with wind turbine OEMs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 4–6 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong interest in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Excellent time-management and project-management skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and adaptability to new software.
  • Interest in renewable energy and field operations.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monitoring gears, bearings, generators, and oil/debris sensors in wind turbine drivetrain systems.
  • Assess damage to major components and classify severity for repair or troubleshooting.
  • Create and deliver customer reports of alerts and recommendations, tracking metrics.
  • Track major component repairs and maintain a failure log with repair reports.
  • Schedule and review End of Warranty inspections and file claims with OEMs.
  • Support in-house repair teams and help build capabilities.
  • Lead pilot projects to test new equipment, tools, or processes.
  • Procure hard-to-find parts for aging wind turbines.
  • Conduct site visits for inspections, failure investigations, or training.
