Job summary

Hydrasearch, a U.S. manufacturer of fluid-transfer and control systems for maritime, aerospace, and defense applications, seeks a Senior/Principal Welding Process Engineer in Stevensville, MD.

You will lead hands-on capability development, welding procedure development, and qualification, ensuring compliant processes for regulated programs. You will balance speed and rigor in a small, high-performing team, interfacing with engineering, manufacturing, and quality to enable growth and smooth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of welding engineering or welding process development experience in compliant manufacturing environments.
• Deep knowledge of welding metallurgy, welding processes, and non-destructive inspection methods (VT, PT, RT, UT).
• Extensive experience qualifying welding procedures and developing welder certification programs.
• Thorough understanding of AS9100 special process requirements.

Responsibilities

• Capability Creation: identify and solve manufacturing capability gaps; develop welding knowledge and standards.
• Hands-on Development: drive rapid cycles of Weld Procedure development (WPS), Procedure Qualification (PQR), and Welder Qualification (WPQ).
• Technical Authority: interpret and apply AWS, ASME, NAVSEA, and customer welding requirements.
• Design for Weldability: provide input to ensure manufacturability and minimize late-stage rework.
• Special Processes: support development of welding, brazing, and tube joining processes.
• Strategic Transition: ensure smooth transition of qualified processes into production.
