Job summary

FuelCell Energy is seeking a hands-on Welder II to join our team in Torrington, CT. The role involves interpreting designs, monitoring machinery, and assessing welded components with a focus on precision and quality.

You will perform MIG and TIG welds on carbon steel and stainless steel, in 1G–6G positions, and work with dissimilar metals and pipe/plate. Strong blue­print reading and strict adherence to specs are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical education or equivalent welding experience.
• 3–5 years of MIG/TIG welding experience.
• Blueprint interpretation and quality measurement required.

Responsibilities

• Performs hands-on welding tasks meeting quantity and quality standards.
• Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Uses carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys as specified.
• selects torches, filler materials, and adjusts machine settings per blueprint.
• Performs plate and pipe fit-up and verifies with calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Ensures proper surface preparation and alignment before welding.
• Operates safety equipment and adheres to PPE requirements.
• Maintains qualifications for assigned processes and materials.
