Job summary

Yahoo is seeking a senior web engineer to lead the end-to-end delivery of Yahoo Mail features at massive scale, owning design, implementation, testing, and production monitoring. Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent) with 6+ years of professional software engineering on high-scale web apps.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, software architecture, and web performance optimization.
• Deep command of modern web frameworks (React, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript) and styling (Atomic CSS, CSS3).
• Hands-on experience with front-end build and testing tools (Webpack, Redux Toolkit, Storybook, Jest, Playwright, React Testing Library).
• Hands-on proficiency with AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code) integrated into daily software design, development and debugging workflows.
• Ability to write structured prompts and evaluate AI-generated outputs to produce robust, secure production code.
• Commitment to validating AI-assisted code to prevent vulnerabilities, hallucinations, edge-case failures, and performance regressions.
• Strong track record shipping and operating scalable customer-facing web features in CI/CD.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Define, design, develop, and ship high-impact features for Yahoo Mail web products, owning deliverables end-to-end from architecture through production monitoring.
• AI-First Workflow Orchestration: Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate implementation while maintaining architectural integrity, code quality, and security standards.
• Lifecycle optimization: Identify and implement AI-driven efficiencies across the software development lifecycle.
• Technical judgment & oversight: Balance AI-generated code outputs with rigorous manual review for correctness, security, and performance.
• High-scale impact: Take end-to-end technical ownership of Yahoo Mail web components at massive scale.
• Quality & collaboration: Code reviews and cross-functional collaboration with PMs, designers, and partners.
• Operational excellence: Write clean, testable code and actively deploy, monitor, and maintain large-scale production systems.
• Mentorship & innovation: Mentor engineers to elevate AI-assisted development practices and evaluate new tooling.
