Job summary

Hex is seeking a senior front-end design lead to own the experience of all Hex web surfaces, including the website and documentation site. Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in web/UI design with a portfolio showing world-class craft and systems thinking.
• Strong across UX, layout, visual design, and typography.
• Experience designing marketing surfaces for technical, B2B, or product-led companies.
• Fluent in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, React/Next.js) and able to ship production-quality code.
• Care about implementation details beyond handoff to developers.
• Sharp eye for visual consistency, motion, micro-interactions, and illustration.
• Autonomous with a bias toward velocity; able to own projects end-to-end.
• Eager to establish processes, patterns, and design rituals for a growing team.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and experience for Hex’s web surfaces (website, docs, future surfaces).
• Design and implement high-quality, production-ready front-end code (React/Next.js, CSS).
• Own launch assets with marketing to ensure major product moments are on-brand and compelling.
• Maintain visual quality, patterns, and consistency across web experiences.
• Partner with designers and marketers to tell clear, cohesive stories.
• Drive the long-term web roadmap, focusing on performance, clarity, storytelling, and experimentation.
• Collaborate with engineering to contribute front-end code for high-quality implementations.
• Support product illustrations and light motion to add personality.
• Over time, hire, manage, and mentor engineers and designers; influence design processes and culture.
• Operate autonomously with velocity, owning projects from concept to launch.
