Job summary

AvonRisk is seeking a senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster III to handle the organization’s most complex, high-exposure claims. You will provide technical leadership, supervise junior staff, and serve as a primary resource for clients and carriers in a hybrid work setting near Glendale/Orange, CA.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of WC claims experience including at least 5 years of independent indemnity management with expertise in complex, high-exposure, and litigated files; OR
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of WC indemnity experience at an independent level; OR equivalent combination.
• Comprehensive knowledge of public entity liability claims including JPAs, self-insured programs, and pooled insurance arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Complex Claims Investigation & Compensability: three-point contact on new losses; scrutinize complex, catastrophic, high-exposure cases; plan action with strategic resolution.
• Medical Management, RTW & Vocational Rehabilitation: lead medical management of catastrophic/high-complexity claims; coordinate life care planners; direct UR/IME.
• Permanent Disability, Reserving & Financial Stewardship: lead PD rating on complex cases; establish/adjust reserves with justification; ensure timely status reports.
• Litigation Management: direct full litigation process on complex files; select defense counsel; manage spend; prepare for trial.
• Settlements, Lien Resolution & Recovery: negotiate high-value settlements; manage multi-lien resolution; pursue subrogation and recovery opportunities.
• Technical Leadership & Supervisory Backup: serve as backup to Claims Supervisor; mentor junior adjusters; maintain client relationships.
• Professionalism & Communication: maintain proactive, transparent communication with stakeholders.
