Job summary

Western Virginia Water Authority seeks a Wastewater/Water Operator IV to operate and maintain the authority’s treatment systems and related facilities. The role requires adherence to safety rules and the ability to prepare detailed reports, with a possible 24-hour on-call schedule.

Graduates with appropriate coursework and experience are considered, with licensing requirements to be met as a Class IV Operator for water or wastewater works.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with related coursework in environmental studies, chemistry, sewage and water treatment, or related areas.
• Previous experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains water and wastewater treatment facilities and related systems.
• Requisitions materials and supplies as needed.
• Performs maintenance and directs contracted maintenance work.
• Maintains records and prepares complex reports.
• Subject to 24-hour call and may work varied shifts as assigned.
